How to Apply Lipstick the Right Way

Lipstick has been used, in various forms, for millenniums, but the struggle to make its color last has, seemingly, existed for just as long. “I have clients run a really hot washcloth over their lips,” explains Daniel Martin, a makeup artist and the global director of artistry and education at the beauty brand Tatcha. Begin by tracing the very edge of your lips with the pencil then color in the outline you’ve created. Martin, on the other hand, prefers to apply liner after lipstick, to touch up the edges. Apply Lipstick — Then Apply Again“You want a color that will stain,” explains the makeup artist Gucci Westman, who is partial to the tomato and fuchsia hues in her namesake brand’s Lip Suede: Les Rouges palette ($85).

A shark was found in the Caribbean — thousands of miles away from its usual habitat in the Arctic. The Greenland shark, which has a lifespan of 250 – 500 years, surprised researchers in Belize. When they retrieved their scientific catch, they were astonished to find the ancient Greenland shark. Greenland sharks are primarily scavengers, eating everything (dead or alive), including fish, seals, polar bears, and whales. The USS Boxer dumped fuel into the ocean, which contaminated its own water supply. A Marine veteran from that deployment told Insider they drank and showered in the contaminated water for as long as a few weeks. Boxer's crew soon noticed the smell of fuel in the drinking water, and Marines and sailors told Military.com that Boxer leadership had claimed that the water was safe to drink. The Boxer is not the only US Navy ship to be stricken with contaminated water over the last few years. One sailor aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln told Insider in an interview last year that the ship's water tasted "horrible" and they couldn't "escape it."

The bar exam assesses knowledge and reasoning and includes essays and performance tests meant to simulate legal work, as well as multiple choice questions. Less than four months ago, two of the same researchers concluded that OpenAI's earlier large language model, ChatGPT, fell short of a passing score on the bar exam, highlighting how rapidly the technology is improving. “I heard so many people say, ‘Well, it might get the multiple choice but it will never get the essays,'” Katz said. AI has also performed well on other standardized tests, including the SAT and the GRE, but the bar exam has garnered more attention. Bar exam tutor Sean Silverman attributed the focus on the bar exam to its widely recognized difficulty.
He was also featured in marketing material for the Livio Cares Foundation and was listed as a Livio Cares Partner. However, there is no evidence Livio Cares engaged in philanthropic activities. According to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts website, the right to transact business in Texas for VMP Nutrition as well as VMP Nutrition Foundation is listed as "forfeited." In 2017, VMP Nutrition and its founder Rodriguez settled a lawsuit filed by Southside Bank for an alleged failure to repay a $2,795,534 lien.
But as stock markets slid, one exchange traded fund in particular outperformed: the ProShares Ultra VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (UVXY), which rose over 13% last week. UVXY is a inverse volatility ETF with a track record of outperformance in times of extreme market volatility. "Moreover, the challenge is timing these rare spikes with precision, which I believe to be nearly impossible," he cautioned. It's fared even worse on a long-term basis, highlighting why the instrument is more suited as a short-term trade. The ETF has the very important benefit of not consistently producing large negative returns over time, as is the case of UVXY," he said.
